THE ONLY SUCH PLACE

Alaska state outline with inset map
From June to late August, the nights are so brief that it never gets fully dark at Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve in south-central Alaska. That means you can hike and mountain bike till you drop. Spectacular, snow-covered mountains rim the area, and the nose of the huge Root Glacier ends almost adjacent to the town of Kennicott.
